2026 marks the 51st year of the Gympie Brahman Female Sale which is being held on Saturday, June 6, at the Gympie saleyards, with entries extended until March 13.

Always conducted on the first Saturday in June, this year’s event will kick off at 9.30am with 30 vendors, at this stage, offering 106 registered females, both red and grey.

As the Australian Brahman Breeders’ Association’s (ABBA) longest running sponsored registered female sale, the 2026 sale will once again see quality females from some of the country’s premier Brahman studs on offer.

Royce and Beryl Sommerfeld of Brahrock stud, Maryborough will again have a top draft of 16 females in the catalogue, after last year topping the sale with Brahrock Miss Talla Lady 7540, which sold for the record price of $62,000 to Rockstar stud principals, Lynda and Stuart Vollmerhausen, from Theebine.

Organisers of the sale are the South Queensland branch of ABBA, with branch chairman, David Harch, looking forward to another great display of the strength of the Brahman breed.

With the last two sales breaking records, Mr Harch said he was hoping for another good solid sale.

“The cattle market is strong at the moment, so we are looking forward to a great sale, with the quality every bit as good as past years,” he said.

“It has certainly become a top end female sale with plenty of well-bred heifers.

“There are a lot of great genetics in the catalogue, with many fresh newer genetics coming in all the time. There are plenty of heifers to suit all sorts of buyers, depending on your requirements.

“While there are still a few dry areas down here in the south, it has been a pretty good season on the whole, so we are expecting the quality of heifers to be excellent.

“We certainly wish all vendors a successful sale, and as chairman of the branch I encourage plenty of buyers to come, whether new or old members, as there is plenty of good genetics for them to get a start with.”

The vendors and sale organisers extend an invitation to buyers to join them for complimentary drinks and nibblies at the Gympie Saleyards, on June 5, from 5 – 6pm, which is sponsored by Cooloola Custom Stockfeed.

“We will have the drinks and nibblies on Friday afternoon before the sale with a pre-sale inspection from 3.30-5pm. It is a social event which allows an opportunity for vendors, buyers and sponsors to come together,” Mr Harch said.

Other 2026 sale sponsors include Inventia Genetic Technologies (IGT) and Allflex Livestock Intelligence.
All cattle are pre-treated for tick clearance.

Sale top price from 2025, Brahrock Miss Talla Lady 7540 (IVF) (PS) sold to Lynda and Stuart Vollmerhausen, Rockstar Brahmans for $62,000.
