As an initiative of the association we have decided to expand our annual carcase and feedlot trial and now include a HGP free/EU pen. The aim of the Feedlot Trial is to identify outstanding performance and commercial viability of Brahman Cattle in an effort to combat the current discounting mentality.
DNA samples will be collected from each entry and used in the process of validating genetic carcase and performance traits. Steers will be scored using a Balance of weight gain, carcase quality and carcase yield traits in an attempt to identify the most profitable Brahman animal for producers and 100 day grain fed markets.

Steers must be commercial or registered purebred Brahman
5 steers per pen, you can enter as many pens as you like.
Best 3 steers per pen used as scored pen.
Steers fed at Barmount Feedlot
Steers will be fed for 110 days
Steers will be Killed at Teys Rockhampton plant
All feed costs will be deducted from proceeds after slaughter

Entry specification guideline for 0-4 teeth 400-500kg curfewed weight
Entry weight for weight gain purpose will be taken on arrival at feedlot.
If numbers make it viable pick up points for larger loads 2-3 decks may be able to be arranged at central points eg. Gracemere, Gympie or Charters Towers
