DNA Request Form Instructions

Using the New Entry Form

• To enter a small number of animals navigate to the ‘New Entry Form’ – Yellow Tab
• Enter your details, then the details of the animal to be DNA Tested (make sure to include the full animal identification including the M or F denoting Male or Female)
• Click the ‘Submit’ button
• Enter the details of the next animal to be tested (there is no need to enter your details again) *make sure to include the full animal identification including the M or F denoting Male or Female
• Click the ‘Submit’ button Repeat steps 4&5 until all animals have been submitted.
• If any animals have more than one sire or dam complete the Sire and Dam Lists – Blue & Pink Tabs
• Check your details (name, membership number etc) are showing on the second line of the sheet
• Save the document
• Print out the ‘Data’ page – Green Tab, to include with your samples
• Email a copyof your document to admin@brahman.com.au
• All animals to be tested have to be calf or commerciall recorded before or at the same time th eDNA Samples are forwarded to the ABBA Office.

Editing directly into the Data Sheet

• To enter animals firstly navigate to the ‘New Entry Form’ – Yellow tab
• Enter your details, then the details of the first animal to be tested. Follow the directions for each field
• Click the ‘Submit’ button
• Navigate to the ‘Data Tab’ – Green tab
• Check your details (name, membership number etc) are showing on the second line of the sheet
• Insert your details if they are missing
• Take note of the data in the sheet from the first entry. This format needs to be followed for the remaining animals.
• Column ‘A’ – Animal Ident must contain 3 character herd letters (ie T4A), the ainimal number (ie 345/5) and finish with an M or an F (ie T4A345/5M)
• Column ‘B’ – Sample Type should contain only H, T, or S (H=Hair, T=TSU, S=Semen)
• Column ‘C’ – Laboratory leave as GAA
• Column ‘D’ – Urgent should contain only Y or remain blank
• Column ‘E’ – Retest should contain only Y or remain blank (use the delete key to clear the field if required)
• Column ‘F ‘ – Test Name should only contain STD_BDL or TAIT_PNL (use the delete key to clear the field if required)
• Column ‘G’ – PV should contain only Y or remain blank (use the delete key to clear the field if required)
• Column ‘H’ – First Sire Ident must contain 3 character herd letters (ie T4A), a minimum of 3 ainimal numbers (ie 345/5) and finish with an M
• Columns ‘I’ & ‘J’ to remain blank (do not put ANY data in these columns)
• Column ‘K’ – First Dam Ident must contain 3 character herd letters (ie T4A), a minimum of 3 ainimal numbers (ie 345/5) and finish with an F
• Columns ‘L’ & ‘M’ to remain blank (do not put ANY data in these columns)
• Column ‘N’ – Test 1 should only contain one of the Test Codes listed below
• Column ‘O’ – Test 2 should only contain one of the Test Codes listed below
• Column ‘P’ – Test 3 should only contain one of the Test Codes listed below
• Column ‘Q’ – Test 4 should only contain one of the Test Codes listed below
• Columns R, S, T & U to remain blank (do not put any data in these columns)
• Column V – DNA Case ID to include your DNA Case ID – if previously tested or a pv retest
• Columns W & X should remain blank (do not put any data in these columns)
• Column Y – TSU No to contain the TSU number
• Column Z – NILS to contain the NLIS number (optional)
• This sheet has ‘Data Validation’ embeded to ensure only the correct data can be entered.
• If you wish to copy and paste data, the copied data will need to correctly match the accepting fields.
• Save the document
• Print out the ‘Data’ page – Green Tab, to include with your samples
• Email a copy of your document to admin@brahman.com.au
• All animals to be tested have to be calf or commercially recorded before or at the same time the DNA Samples are forwarded to the ABBA Office.
